Daniel T. Mentzer

Daniel Mentzer is of counsel to Pappalardo & Pappalardo, LLP. He is an accomplished trial attorney with nearly three decades of experience. Since being admitted to practice in New York in 1991, Mr. Mentzer first worked in the Bronx at the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division as a public defender for five years. Thereafter, he worked as a prosecutor with the the New York State Attorney General’s Office in New York County prosecuting doctors and health care professionals in the Medicaid Fraud Division.

Mr. Mentzer is now in private practice, focusing on criminal trials. He has a tremendous amount of courtroom experience, both in state and federal courts. He has been lead counsel in more than 80 felony trials, including 31 homicide trials as well as sexual assault and narcotics conspiracy trials. Mr. Mentzer has also been lead counsel in dozens of misdemeanor trials and more than 300 pre-trial hearings. Mr. Mentzer is one of the most successful and experienced criminal defense attorneys in the tri-state area. He further serves as a trial instructor for the Legal Aid Society of New York City and the Assigned Counsel Plan of Westchester County.
